I began this Substack with an intent of focusing mainly on bigger-picture issues rather than commentary on the latest news which is easy to find elsewhere. But over the last year, my focus did shift toward the latter type of post, largely because it has felt like the events of the last year are truly monumental and worth the attention.
I still feel that way, but I’d like to get back to writing more timeless, issue-focused posts. I recently read a couple of books (The Anti-Greed Gospel by Malcolm Foley and Cross Purposes by Jonathan Rauch) that have given me inspiration for some upcoming topics along these lines which I plan to write about soon. But before I do, I had to share this article: The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans.
I had been thinking of writing a whole post on the incompetence of this administration and the risk that entails, which stems from its appointment of unqualified individuals and lack of respect for expertise, rules and protocols. But honestly, the experience Jeff Goldberg at the Atlantic shares in the article above does a better job of illustrating this than I ever could. Read the whole thing.
